I can't wait, I played the hell out of Fallout 3, it's probably been the only sandbox game I really enjoyed.
The MC video's ~40% done, but I'm too lazy to set a deadline to finish it.

I went to a midnight release, had the physical copy in my hand, but steam would not let me install it until 3am... Knives.

Where did you buy it from? I heard you get a special pack depending on where you got it.

Why does Bethesda assume people like software mouse... it's so bad. At least it's changeable in the config file.

Eh, not really. I got a budget gaming pc (AMD Phenom II 950 3.1ghz Quad, 4gb, ATI 4870) and it defaulted to Ultra High. The only bit of annoyance is it doesn't let you alt tab. One thing I did notice that dramatically affected fps vs Fallout 3 is that light sources are way, way more realistic (This results in some rare chugging, such as a casino that has a reflective car inside, with 8 light sources shining down on it) and 2d textures, such as grass, are anti-aliased. Overall though the game looks like what Fallout 3 should of looked like, faces don't look like clay anymore, kind of a plus in my book.

The 9800gt is a great card, honestly not worth an upgrade until the next tier off cards imo. The current tier prices for a worthwhile update is kinda stupid (Nvidia 460 or ATI 5850 @ over $200). I had a 9800 myself, but it died ~6 months after purchase and Asus gave me hell to replace it, so I ended up going ATI.

This game blows away time at an amazing rate... I started playing last night ~11ish, did 2 quests, got a few levels, looked at the clock, it's 3 am...

My system rips ass on the light sources, 3.2 duel core 8800 gt and its turrable there's not a direct option to tone the light sources down, or so i've seen...
Also npcs like getting stuck in rocks. Hillarioussly enough I killed an npc just has she was going to open a door and she immidately flew upwords and starteed colideing with the ceiling.

You have a better system than my roommate, and she can play it perfectly fine. Reformat.

Oblivion engine has terrible collision detection, everything gets stuck in everything. Welcome to games by Bethesda.

It really doesn't matter seem to matter how good your system is with the new lighting system. Have her go to Primm (the city with the rollercoaster casino, might not be Primm) and go into the casino opposite of the rollercoaster one, her pc will most definitely chug as well when she's focused near the car on display if it's set to Ultra.

I think they added a real lighting system to play around with volumetric fog (something I've noticed in New Vegas that seems to appear in tandem with the chugging and large amount of light sources).

Works fine. Update your drivers maybe? I reformatted her computer (2.8 dual core, 2GB ram, 8800GT, WinXP) immediately after going to the midnight release of this game, and it works fabulously. My computer also works fabulously (2.4GHz quadcore, 4GB ram, 8800GTS, Win7)

Running the newest drivers, curious. The rest of the game runs smoothly, just areas with 8+ light sources and fog.
