Yes.  Good news though ns2 is supposed to have backwards compatible demos.

They are in fact playable... there was this dude online who was some compsxci student who released this thing that played em...basically was the older versions of nfiles and the exe, could then acess em like any demo, I got the files somewhere..and his website prollu still up, and iirc his aim name was like anime8008 or anime 8008 or someshit. (What? I wanted to thank the dude lol)
