So, what I'm doing now:

You climb to the top of a tree. Put down a single block of dirt, and plant a tree ontop of that tree.

Repeat, building huts within the trees and bridges between them.

Eventually, you have an amazing above ground tree village.

Inventory is local, so when you DC and reconnect, you loose everything. Make a stash somewhere. I'm going to work on a program that will parse chat and run console commands so that we can do in game commands for assorted awesome things.

Minecraft's been getting a bit boring, so for curiousity's sake I started messing around with texture swapping, and found the Something Awful pack, it has some odd texture choices (iron blocks are blocks of gears) but overall it looks way better than default imho. Also, Ho0ber, can you do one last overview map of what the server looks like? There's been a lot built since the last one, and those maps look pretty boss.


To swap textures, search for a folder named ".minecraft" go in the "bin" folder, open minecraft.jar with a zip app (don't extract it, just open in), and drag the contents of the file below in there. There's an easy to follow readme in the zip too.

I'm glad someone else thinks this is a good idea.

But just imagine, all of us getting on at once, setting the difficulty to nightmare, (or whatever the highest level is called) and having to quickly throw together some sort of defense before the onslaught of monsters that come at nightfall.

I've also been doing some hardcore server modding, I can make things like triggerable Hell Nights, where the night lasts twice the length and zombie spawn rates are tenfold or something...

Yeah, fully agree. The mixed creative mode thing we got going is fun to a point, but single player feels like a real game, it's gonna be fun doing that multiplayer.

On another note, notch apparently got flew in by Valve, they had a chat, then flew back and decided to hire people and make his game into a real company, hiring people and the like.

He also met with Bungie.

My theory is that Valve brought him out so that Gabe could propose to Notch that he eats him alive to absorb his creative talents so that Episode 3 can come out.
