Steam Problem
« on: March 27, 2010, 12:32:14 am »
Anyone having problems with steam updating?

Anytime I try to start Steam, the small "Updating Steam" window comes up, but it never moves past 0%.  It just sits there.  Sometimes it will say it loses connection and allow me to start in offline mode, but I can't find a reason why it wont update.

Its really starting to piss me off   >:(

My steam doesn't do that, but every other day it asks to restart with the same update news, never actually updating....

I had that problem earlier, but I think it was because my modem is the shittiest hunk of technology I've ever laid eyes on.

I hate that so much.

Mine does that sometimes, but I've never had it completely fuck up like this.  I assume its another damn problem with my school's network.....again.

I know this sounds pointless, but just reset your wireless receiver/modem/router/whatever. Sometimes I get out-of-the-blue problems with Steam or other online shit, and that almost always fixes it. Sometimes your computer just stops speaking the right way.

I've already tried reseting my wireless adapter...no luck.  I have no control over the wireless routers and modem, so thats a dead end.  I've figured that a security setting or something on the network was probably changed and it fucked up Steam's updating somehow.  Whatever, I should be able to update when I head home tomorrow.

Thanks for the idea though
