Charles Bukowski, Dashiell Hammett (especially the Maltese Falcon) and Tibor Fischer own.

Oh! Mario Puzo's books are better than I'd've expected, too. I plan on reading the Sicilian again (mostly because I don't have the first or last book in the Godfather series). Some of William Faulkner's stuff is pretty good (Light in August is great; never buy As I Lay Dying), and you can't go wrong with J.D. Salinger, although some of his writing is pretty "watered down."

EDIT: Video game lore books are for queers.

Read the Song of Ice and Fire series if you haven't already. Each book is fantastic and are all ~1000 pages.

I don't know dude, there's nothing wrong with some fantasy books (Tolkein or something, I don't know), but lore from WoW? I bet you that shit is written at a 7th grader's level.
