Batman: Arkham Asylum
« on: August 26, 2009, 05:42:50 am »
Has anyone else played this game?
It's so fucking awesome there's no way to describe it.
You can totally glide off a gargoyle, kick dudes in the face, and smash their head into the ground.
I got this game like a week ago and I'm like half-way through it and I have yet to find something to really complain about.
It's weird how Batman's costume has rivets in it though.

I guess we're at the same part then, I'm just looking for a way to get into his lair right now. Those fucking suicide collars are really annoying but I guess they had to find a way to force you to use stealth instead of just glide kicking everyone in the face. I can also see a lot of metroid/castlevania style backtracking because there's plenty of trophies you can't get when you first see them and you need to get the right gadget to open them up.

True I like that element of metriod/castlevania, I also like the fact that u feel like batman and not running room to room punching a dude then punch the bosses health bar and run along.  U hunt in the shadows and ur enemies are as fowl and evil as the asylum it's self. The scarecrow scenes are my favorite, not the jumping parts but the first half of it where batman gets his mind fucked. I like most of the parts but the garden and mansion don't have that heavy feel as the other parts, u know.

Would you guys say it's worth $50 though?

I played the demo, which was fun, but there'd have to be a lot of content for this game to be worth the dough. I went through that first bit up to the first boss fight in 10 minutes tops. This isn't some "casual" shit that 10-year-olds could be in a few hours, is it? Left- and right-clicking alternately with the occasional cape stun isn't very challenging, so I hope there's a lot of boss fights and areas you need to "think" your way through, instead of just sneaking up to baddies and mashing down your mouse to get by.

I'll call myself a conspiracy theorist if you call yourself a coincidence theorist.

10-12 hours maybe? Wasn't watching my time to closely.  More if you do all the riddler challenges and then the arena's you unlock.  I played through on normal it was fairly easy.

The game seems cool, but unless I get hired by this place (already had the interview), I won't buy it. I'm blowing $360 on a new mobo, cpu and ram. Woohoo! Finally gonna have some decent shit to go with my 4870.
