I see...But I rarely use the shotgun anyways, so the sandvich is for me:) Also, medics are harder to come by nowadays. ALSO I don't play heavy much because of spies.
Oh, and virally, what are your opinions on the KGB?
The minigun, objectively speaking, really sucks. The shotgun's your only way to deal damage and move around. You use it rarely because you have this little voice in your head (Valve) trying to convince you the minigun owns. It only owns when you're practically point blank, or if no one's shooting back at you. I've gone whole rounds not using my minigun. Too many goddamn soldiers and demos, but you won't cut it moving at 27% speed, regardless of your damage output.
I don't use it personally because heavy melee is a joke. You're the slowest class with the largest hitbox. Melee is a real disadvantage, unless it's 1 on 1 (because of your health). You've already got the minigun, the most lethal melee-range weapon in the game, and the shotgun, which is actually meaty enough to two-shot demos that close.
The only time you should EVER melee is if your minigun's out of ammo, and there's nothing chambered in your shotgun, and your target is, for whatever reason, in melee range. Even if you're in that same situation but your target's not in melee range, you're better off just reloading your shotgun.
So if I'm actually in need of my melee, why go KGB? You have a longer time between swings (effectively lower dps), and the crit buff is all but worthless unless you have your shotgun fully loaded and a few close-range targets. Might as well go with the superior speed and dps of the fists. That shit will actually save you in a melee fight. KGB is just gimping yourself for the powerball chance of killing someone with the crits.
