If they release the dedicated server software I'll get one up ASAP for us to play on. The People's Republic of Shenanigan's NS2 server will exist.

Worst timing for hardware failure, ever. My bluetooth chip short circuited and fried the motherboard in the process. There are scorch marks inside my computer's case

I wonder if my old laptop will be able to handle it, I'll try a ton of console tweaking.

I should have a dedicated server up this afternoon. I think almost all of the problems we were experiencing last night will go away once latency is no longer an issue. When I was on my home-hosted dedicated server alone I could run the game very smoothly at medium level. It looks like they have a lot of netcode optimization to do.
